This is no longer the case: virtually everything can be produced mechanically. Modern technological products which incorporate handmade details or take inspiration from handicrafts therefore reflect a conscious decision on the part of the designer or manufacturer. They do it because it is modern, because it challenges the limits of what craft can be, or simply because it is fun.
In this exhibition, we look at how technology and craftsmanship are being advanced by big companies, as well as by less-established designers and independent individuals. The themes of the exhibition are human vs. machine, personalization (customizing) of objects, sustainability, hipster culture and alternative design.
